Maarten Roels
Maarten Roels (°1980) holds a Master's degree in German Philology and Law. He was a former doctoral researcher at the V.U.B., mobility manager at vzw B.R.A.L., and partner at O.V.A.M. As member of the board of 'Le Début des Haricots' he actively contributed to the practice and theory of ecological utopia, sustainable mobility, and the production, distribution, consumption, and waste management of food.
His current doctoral research implements insights from the above experiences within the modelling of sustainable urban agriculture, reconnecting 'production' and 'consumption', and the 'rural' with the 'urban'. He continues to work at the Centre for Sustainable Development, where he studies the role of Multi Level Governance.
