Olle Järv
Olle Järv (°1981, Tartu, Estonia) holds Master's degree in Human Geography (Tartu University) and is a PhD student at the Department of Human Geography of Tartu University.
His PhD research is focused on human space-time behaviour using mobile phone positioning data. His research aim is to implement passive mobile phone positioning data (temporal and geographical data of a call activities automatically stored in the log files of mobile operators) as an alternative method to study everyday activity-spaces and mobility of the individuals. In the first phase of the research, a conceptual anchor point model was developed to determine individuals' meaningful places/locations from every-day activity space using passive mobile phone positioning data. In the second phase of the research, the model is used for studying individuals' mobility patterns and commuters' road usage in particular. Olle's PhD research at Ghent University deals with the implementation of mobile phone positioning data in transportation studies and is funded by European Social Fund (DoRa scholarship).
