Timothy Nuttens
Timothy Nuttens (°1985, Deinze) is a Master in Geography - option Surveying (Department of Geography - Faculty of Sciences - Ghent University) (2007). His Master thesis was titled 'The virtual reconstruction of the acropolis walls of Titani (Peloponnesos, Griekenland) by aims of photogrammetry' (Promotor : Prof. dr. Rudi Goossens; Co-promotor : dr. Christiane Tytgat).
After his graduation, he has worked as surveyor in a private firm.
Since January 2008, he is working as a member of the academic assistant staff at the Department of Geography of Ghent University. He combines his tasks as research assistant with his PhD research on laserscanning.
His PhD research focuses on the use of high accuracy terrestrial laser scanning for deformation measurements of newly built concrete tunnels. Timothy Nuttens was involved as a researcher in a project to monitor the deformations of concrete elements of newly built tunnels by aims of terrestrial high resolution laser scanning (Diabolo Project, Zaventem - Brussels, Belgium). He is currently also involved in a similar project to monitor the deformations of concrete elements in the first three months after placement of the newly built tunnels for the 'Liefkenshoek Railway Connection Project' (Antwerp, Belgium).
He also cooperates in other projects such as the topographical measurements on archaeological sites and the photogrammetric recording and restitution of archaeological remnants (Titani, Greece; Malta).
